Changing the Default Boot in GRUB

Most computers on the market today comes with a hard-disk capacity is large enough. On the other hand, a growing number of Linux distributions in circulation by bringing the advantages and disadvantages of each. The existence of both factors, directly or not, can be "interesting" users to install two or more operating systems in a single computer with multiple boot termed normal. Whether it's needs, making a review, or just a fad a try. Fortunately, Linux provides an application called GRUB that can facilitate us in choosing what operating system will run when turning on the computer. Typically, immediately turn the GRUB default operating system after a certain duration if we do not make a choice. For example, if our default operating system is Ubuntu, the Ubuntu GRUB will automatically turn on if we do not specify the option when the GRUB menu appears. Sometimes it is, quite inconvenient especially when we're distracted concentration and forgetfulness on the keyboard to select another operating system (like Windows). Well, on this occasion I would like to share information on how to easily change the light default operating system in GRUB.

Changing the Default Boot in GRUB
As you can see in the picture above, in the GRUB menu are numbered in the order 0, 1, 2, 3, and so on. By default, GRUB will turn on the operating system in order to-0 if the user does not specify a choice. Please open the file "/ boot / grub / grub.cfg" with root permissions:view plainprint?

sudo gedit / boot / grub / grub.cfg
Consider writing set default = "0"!

Change the value of 0 (zero) with the serial number of the desired OS

Well, you need to do is change the number "0" into the serial number of the operating system you want, in this example, if you want to turn on the Windows operating system by default then change the number "0" to "4". Remember! The order of entries in GRUB starts counting from 0 (zero).

Do not forget to save the changes you have done, then restart the computer to feel the effect.Change the value of 0 (zero) with the serial number of the desired OSWell, you need to do is change the number "0" into the serial number of the operating system you want, in this example, if you want to turn on the Windows operating system by default then change the number "0" to "4".
